Mahaki Art – A whanau owned business

Mahaki is a whanau (family) owned business. The mainstay of the business Te Hemoata Henare was weaving here at “Te Puna I Keteriki” in the beginning.

She has with whanau support and weaving/artists networks started to build Mahaki into a uniquely Maori art outlet.

You can purchase pieces of local Maori craft, weaving (Kete – carry baskets, Backpacks etc), replica of Ancient Maori implements, Paua jewelry produced by local women, carved bone & whale bone pendants and earrings, Pounamu (Greenstone) jewelry, T-Shirts with Maori symbols and Maori wording, Ngapuhi Tribal wear, Garments designed by Sonia Davis, Cards, Painted kohatu (rocks) and more.

Mahaki compliments adjoining Whare Toi Tangata Gallery.
