Studio 2001 is a Hair Stylist and Makeup Artistry business owned by
local Maori, Karel Van Eyk.
It’s apparent from the moment you enter his Studio that there
is more to this Hair Stylist than cutting hair. Karel has featured in
a number of Magazines, has been involved in Fashion shows and exhibitions
in Whare Toi Tangata Gallery, these are alternative means of expressing
the flair and skill that he also channels into his trade.
He has created a range of contemporary Maori photographic images for
us which are bold, vibrant and colourful, they leave you with a sense
of what “21st Century Maori” might be.
His clients will tell you that his easy, generous nature is reflected
in the way he deals with each person who walks in his door.
