The Tuna Café is a business owned by 2 local Maori women Suz
& Jen. They have built a team of young Maori who enjoy working in
their home town and are also incredibly good at it too.
There is something about the café that sets it apart from others...
Jen & Suz would say that it is simply a reflection of what they
are... Maori who are passionate about everything Maori... the people...
the place...
the food.
They offer local delicacies like Smoked Tuna, (Eel) Kanae Pawhara (Filleted
smoked Mullet), Kumara kao (Kumara fritter) & Whekau (black pudding)
with fantastic Allpress coffee and Café fare. We display a range
of authentic 'contemporary & traditional Maori arts' in the cafe
and we are proud that everything is created by Maori from this area.
Many visitors to Taitokerau have tried what’s on offer here in
Moerewa and have commented on the “feel” of the place...
